Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine
Learn the history of coal mining in West Virginia at the largest and most popular heritage destination in the region
Open daily from 10 am to 6 pm (last trip departing at 5:30) from April 1 through November 1. Ride a 'man car' underground into what was once an operational coal mine with an experienced coal miner as your guide. In addition to the underground tour visitors can explore the coal camp which includes a restored Coal Company House, Superintendent's Home, Pemberton Coal Camp Church and the Helen Coal Camp School. Tour of mine and camp normally takes 1.5 hrs. Group rates available.
Also on site is the uniquely designed and newly expanded Rahall Company Store which houses a coal mining museum, gift and fudge shop and visitors center.
Coal mine is located inside the New River Park and adjacent to the Youth Museum of Southern WV.
Burning Rock Outdoor Adventure Park
Spanning nearly 8,000 acres, Burning Rock Off-Road Park offers 100 miles of total trails. Each trail is uniquely different offering something for every skill level. From single track to double track and beyond, the park truly has a variety of terrain for your riding pleasure.
Dirt bikes, ATV and UTVs are welcome at Burning Rock.
Trails are open 365 days a year. Only a short drive from the McKinney Mountain Exit of the Coalfield Expressway, the trailhead amenities include: on-site parking, permit & souvenir sales, restrooms, gas pumps and an ATV power washer.
Burning Rock is also home to the Burning Rock Express, a 1/2 mile long, dual racing zipline.
Coal Heritage Highway Authority
National Scenic Byway, winds through five counties, including Raleigh. Showcases the rich heritage of coal mining and telling the story of generations of WV families.

Tamarack: The Best of WV
"The Best of West Virginia" is the motto at the Tamarack, the state's premier gallery of artisans' works. It's the first complete showcase of a single state's handcrafts, fine art, and regional cuisine in the entire nation.
Artisans from all fifty-five counties of West Virginia- over 2,800 total- have shown or are showing their wares at the Tamarack. From painting to glass blowing, from basket making to blacksmithing, the Tamarack is the place to see it.
Along with all the great works on display and for sale at the Tamarack, there's a lively events calendar. A theater and several meeting spaces, along with food provided by the Greenbrier Hotel, keep the space alive with conventions, concerts, and workshops.
The Cynthia Bickey Art Gallery
Beckley's premier Art Gallery features the work of local artists and heritage crafters. Come and join our adult and children arts and crafts classes. Open Friday and Saturday 11am to 5pm and Sunday 1pm to 5pm. Visa/MC accepted.
Theatre West Virginia
Theatre West Virginia performs outdoor dramas under the stars annually starting in mid-June and going through late August.
Annual productions include: "Honey in the Rock" which chronicles the tumultuous birth of the Mountain State through the lives of some of its real and imagined residents; and "Hatfields and McCoys" which chronicles the battles and bloodshed spurred by pride and politics. The story of the Hatfields and McCoys has been told and retold until the real men and women diffuse into myth, but they did exist.
Each year the Theatre also performs two additional productions. In 2011 enjoy "All Shook Up" and Disney's "Jungle Book."
These performances take place at The Cliffside Amphitheater in Grandview located at 4700 Grandview Rd, Beaver 25813. Performances begin at 8:15 pm nightly Tuesday's - Sunday's from June 14, 2011 to August 28, 2011.

Walking Ghost Tour of Historic Beckley
Explore Beckley's Haunted sites adn buildinging in the Historic District. Tours leave at 8:30 pm, Friday and Saturdays, June thru August. Tours begin at the Neville Stree Park across from Mountain State University Bookstore on Neville St. Free Parking, easy to find. Cost is $10 for adult. 20% discount for students, 7 and under free and specials for hotel/motel guests - call for details. Tour include interior tour of the 1931 Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Theatre, with 20 minutes on your own camera investigation. Great fun for the entire family.
