- 38th Annual Wendy's Biddy-Buddy Basketball Tournament at the YMCA. We'll host 76 teams from seven states in this three day kids' competition. Contact Jason Reger at jason@beckleyymca.com for details.
- Boy Scouts Annual Wild Game Dinner at the Prosperity Community Center. If you like your food straight from the forest, this dinner is for you. - Southern West Virginia Home Builders Association Home Show at the Raleigh County Convention Center. There will be all kinds of information on display for everyone who's interested in buying or building a new home in the Beckley-Raleigh County area. - Rafting Season begins. The heart of New River gorge Country kicks off the season with high water specials and great package deals. If you've never been rafting, or if you're a seasoned veteran, spring is one of the best times to take on the rapids. Call 1-800-VISIT-WV for more information.
- Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine Official Season Opening. The Exhibition Coal mine is a once-working mine that offers visitors the chance to view the mining experience from the inside. Visit http://www.beckleymine.com for more information.
- Annual YMCA International dinner at the Raleigh County Convention Center. This cuisine classic is an annual fund-raising event that helps support the YMCA's youth and adult programs. - Sweet Treats Saturday Dessert Festival at Jim Word Park on Neville Street. Eat for a cause at this Relay For Life and United Way fundraiser, complete with music, pageant and photo contest. - 17th Annual Business Show at the Raleigh County Convention Center. This event is hosted by the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce. - Chick-Fil-A Darrell Moore Memorial Soccer Tournament. This event is the first soccer tournament of the year at the YMCA. The YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex is a state-of-the art multi-purpose facility that boasts eight full-size soccer fields, including two with stadium seating. - Fridays In The Park concert series begins. Check out these great lunchtime concerts at Jim Word Park on Neville Street. Concerts host all musical styles and stripes. Every Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. through September 11.
- New River Park Pool opens. Nothing says spring turning to summer like the opening of the pool. New River Park offers an Olympic size pool, waterslide, tennis courts, basketball courts, shelter, picnic & grill facilities, horseshoe pits, fitness trail & playground. - Lake Stephens Beach opens. Head to the lake for some long awaited fun in the sun. The park has now added 500 tons of sand expanding their beach to 300 feet.
